Red's Team PokePaste: https://pokepast.es/dd93481039070bb4 Pre-Champions Showdown Server: https://showdown-vgcpast-es.psim.us/ The meta will always change. Your favorites don't have to. Instead of chasing the best possible team when Pokemon Champions launches, I reverse engineered one of the most iconic lineups in franchise history, Red's team of Pikachu, Charizard, Venusaur, Blastoise, Snorlax, and Espeon. A 25-year-old classic that has no business being this good. In this video I break down exactly how to build and play this team so you can hit the ground running on launch day and actually win with your favorites. Team Adjustments to Try: Charizard - Protect/Heat Wave/Fire Pledge are staples, but the fourth slot can be Air Slash for Flying-type STAB, but this set hard loses to Tyranitar. I opted for Solar Beam because it covers for Tyranitar and other Fire-type resists since the pledge combo two shots Incineroar anyway. Venusaur - Grass Pledge and Sleep Power are essential for this team, but outside of that Protect, Sludge Bomb, Weather Ball, and Earth Power are all viable for different matchups. Play around with which of these feels right for you. Blastoise - Life Dew helps keep Blastoise and the rest of the team healthy (especially Snorlax) but this can be substituted for another damaging move like Aura Sphere for Incineroar/Tyranitar coverage as the team does struggle into this core. Pikachu - Electroweb is the most expendable slot. The speed control is nice, but Pikachu gets walled by Ground-types and other Lightning Rod users. Substituting this with Grass Knot to help cover for these walls as well as patching up the Tyranitar matchup is a solid option. Snorlax - Snorlax can forego Protect or Recycle for another coverage move like Crunch to cover Ghost-types or High Horsepower for the Rock/Steel types that resist it's Body Slam leaving it to rely on Blastoise's Life Dew for additional recovery. Espeon - The true Swiss army knife of the team. Espeon can run Psychic, Psyshock, Weather Ball, Power Gem, Shadow Ball, Dazzling Gleam, Trick, Trick Room, Calm Mind and so many more moves. Endless options shouldn't be surprising from an Eeveelution so play around with what feels the most comfortable, and more importantly, the most fun for you on this team.
