Episode 1346 Jerry (Graham Haberfield) refuses to share his breakfast milk with Ray (Neville Buswell), as Ray forgot to order any and Jerry bought the extra pint for himself and Deirdre (Anne Kirkbride) at the yard. Deirdre asks Maggie (Irene Sutcliffe) about the Ogden’s son, Trevor (Don Hawkins). Maggie explains that Trevor was thrown out by Stan after stealing around the street and has not been seen for nine years. Hilda (Jean Alexander) remains upset by Betty’s (Betty Driver) comment about Trevor. She suggests contacting him, but Stan (Bernard Youens) refuses to regard Trevor as their son. Ernie (Stephen Hancock) quietly asks Alf (Bryan Mosley) to meet him later to discuss problems involving Ena (Violet Carson) at the Community Centre. Mavis (Thelma Barlow) is upset when Jerry phones to cancel lunch because he and Deirdre must work through to complete the Dobbs and Swales contract. Ray boasts about his prospects, but Deirdre insists that "Booth and Hunt" is thriving. Ena presses Minnie (Margot Bryant) about where she and Albert (Jack Howarth) will live after marrying. Minnie admits that they have not yet worked out the details and is in no hurry while she is enjoying their courtship. Hilda tries to contact Trevor and discovers that he moved from his previous address about a year earlier and obtains a forwarding address in Chesterfield. Alf tells Maggie that he has booked a table for two for Christmas dinner and invites her to join him but she has already been asked to spend Christmas with Gordon (Bill Kenwright) in London. She also reveals that Norma (Diana Davies) has left Weatherfield to look after her sick father, Jacko (Robert Keegan). Hilda nervously admits to Stan that she tried to contact Trevor. She also reveals that Trevor wrote to them two years ago, but she concealed the letter because she knew Stan would not want to see it. Ray deliberately suggests to Mavis that Jerry and Deirdre are becoming romantically involved. Betty calls at No. 13 to apologise for her comment about Trevor at the anniversary party and encourages her to use the Chesterfield address and try to see her son. Jerry reassures Mavis that Ray was only stirring trouble until Deirdre arrives at The Kabin and announces that she and Jerry intend to celebrate the completed contract together. Rita (Barbara Knox) tells Mavis that she must take firmer action rather than allow Deirdre to monopolise Jerry. Alf and Ernest compare notes and discover that each has received several complaints about Ena’s increasingly hostile treatment of Community Centre users. Ray proudly announces that he has secured a new position as area representative for Weatherfield Developments. A tearful Hilda declares to Stan that Trevor is still her son and that she intends to travel to Chesterfield to see him on his birthday the following day, whether Stan accompanies her or not.
