Or is it not their fault? Because the exposing is happening from multiple directions — and the parents being called out aren't all taking it the same way. If you know a child who needs help with literacy or math, visit us at: www.jonayves.com Teachers are sharing what they see. Millennials are sharing what they observe in public, in schools, in the lives of people around them. And increasingly both groups are pointing at parents and saying the same thing — that what's happening at home is showing up everywhere else and it's not good. The exposure feels different when it comes from multiple directions at once. It's harder to dismiss as one frustrated teacher venting. When the same patterns keep getting described by different people in different contexts, it starts to feel like something real is being surfaced. But the parents being exposed aren't all indifferent. A lot of them are dealing with circumstances that don't get mentioned in the videos calling them out. Financial pressure. Mental health struggles. Lack of support. Parenting without a blueprint in an environment that changes faster than any generation has had to keep up with before. Fault implies a choice was made. For a lot of parents the situation they're in didn't feel like a choice at all. So is this exposure fair? Sometimes. And sometimes it's people with a platform and a strong opinion who don't have full visibility into what someone else's life actually looks like. I've worked with thousands of families from Kindergarten to Grade 12. Most parents are doing more than the videos about them suggest. Most are also dealing with more than anyone outside their household can see. Is the exposure fair, or is there more to the story? Leave a comment.
