__ Welcome to the first episode of Haal-Filhaal, our new podcast. The aim of this podcast is to understand our times and society from a people-centric perspective, question contemporary developments, and examine the social and political conditions that shape the world we live in. This episode begins with the ongoing protests in Delhi demanding the resignation of Gyanesh Kumar. But is the voice of resistance confined to Delhi alone? Since the beginning of the year, public discontent has taken to the streets in different parts of the country—from industrial workers’ movements in Panipat, Barauni, and Surat to the Adivasi struggle in Sijimali. We try to understand the circumstances underlying these movements and explore what the recurring emergence of popular resistance tells us about the times we live in. From there, we return to Delhi, where the heavy deployment of police and security forces, along with restrictions imposed at protest sites, raises several important questions. Through an examination of Delhi’s architecture, urban planning, and the history of protest sites such as Jantar Mantar, we explore how the architecture and geography of the capital shape the possibilities of political resistance. Beginning with the relationship between power and the city during the colonial era, this discussion traces its evolution into the Delhi of today. This episode also examines student movements and the inequalities embedded within educational institutions. In the context of Sahil Wankhede’s institutional murder at IIT Bombay, we raise questions about caste discrimination within educational institutions and the persistence of student suicides. We also discuss the demand for a student union at Jamia Millia Islamia and the ongoing protests in France. Why do people repeatedly take to the streets? Why does the state appear so uncomfortable with resistance? And do cities, educational institutions, and state structures themselves determine the limits of dissent? Through these questions, Haal-Filhaal seeks to go beyond the headlines and understand the broader social, political, and historical contexts of the events unfolding around us. 00:00 - परिचय 01:51 - विवेचना के विषय 03:41 - SIR की असल कहानी 08:15 - क्यों हैं लोग अनवरत सड़कों पर? 11:10 - दिल्ली में प्रतिरोध की सूरत 13:37 - प्रतिरोध को दबाने का भूगोल 17:21 - 1947 के बाद क्या औपनिवेशिक आर्किटेक्चर में कोई बदलाव आया? 21:23 - वैश्विक आर्थिक संकट के बीच मजदूरों की बदहाली 30:56 - IIT जैसे उच्च शैक्षणिक संस्थानों में क्या है आत्महत्त्याओं की असल वजह? #protest #dilli #Paris #mumbai #iitbombay #tribal #podcast #analysisvideo
