During his tenure, he supported many student leaders from Saran district including Lalu Prasad Yadav. His granddaughter Aishwarya tied the knot with Lalu Prasad's elder son Tej Pratap Yadav but soon after marriage, a marital discord occurred and now this matter is sub judice before the family court. Daroga Prasad's son Chandrika Rai has served as an MLA for the sixth time from Parsa assembly constituency and is again contesting on JDU symbol.
