चक्रवात तथा प्रतिचक्रवात चक्रवात तापजनित या गति जनित निम्न वायुदाब के केंद्र होते हैं जबकि प्रतिचक्रवात उच्च वायुदाब के केंद्र होते हैं l चक्रवात में प्रवणता पवन का अभिसरण होता है जबकि प्रतिचक्रवात में पवन अपसरित होती हैं l शीतोष्ण और उष्णकटिबंधीय दोनों चक्रवात उत्तरी गोलार्ध में अपने अक्ष पर घड़ी की सुई के विपरीत घूमते हैं जबकि दक्षिणी गोलार्ध में घड़ी की सुई के अनुरूप l उसके विपरीत ध्रुवी तथा उपोष्ण कटिबंधीय दोनों प्रतिचक्रवात उत्तरी गोलार्ध में अपने अक्ष पर घड़ी के सुई के अनुरूप और दक्षिणी गोलार्ध में घड़ी घड़ी के सुई के विपरीत घूमते हैंl Cyclone and Anti-cyclone Cyclone are the center of thermal or dynamic low pressure while anticyclones are the center of high pressure in cyclone gradient wind converge while in anticyclone wind diverse temperate and tropical both cyclone rotate anti clockwise on their axis in North hemispheres and clockwise in South hemisphere contrary to eat both the polar and sub tropical anticyclone rotate clockwise and their axis in north hemisphere and anticlockwise in South hemisphere ABOUT AUTHOR :- Prof Sheo Sagar Ojha is Head of Geography Department , University Of Allahabad.
