Max explained how HiveTracks uses beehives as monitoring tools to assess pollinator health and ecosystem resilience on solar farms, with hives capable of foraging up to 10,000 acres and traveling 2-4 miles from their location. The company places two hives as a starting point and collects data through regular visits, pollen analysis, and IoT devices to determine foraging patterns, habitat quality, and potential ecotoxicology issues from PFAS (Per- and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances), microplastics, and pesticides. Max described how they work with local experienced beekeepers rather than providing bees directly, and how they use bee intelligence to identify dearth periods and recommend specific plantings to create year-round foraging resources. The discussion covered practical aspects including hive placement considerations, safety protocols, and the potential for solar-powered monitoring equipment, with Max noting they currently have 12 solar sites and are beginning to produce honey for sale. 🌞 About Sean White (SolarSEAN): Sean White is a globally recognized solar PV and energy storage educator, speaker, and author. ✅ IREC Certified Master Trainer ✅ NABCEP Certification Prep Expert ✅ Award-Winning Author & Educator ✅ NEC & Solar PV Codes Contributor 📚 Sean’s Expertise Includes: NABCEP Certification Training Solar PV Boot Camps for engineers, contractors & execs Industry Standards & NEC Code Education Author of Solar Photovoltaic Basics, Solar PV Engineering & Installation Speaker at SNEC, RE+, NABCEP, Intersolar & more 🏆 Awards: IREC Trainer of the Year Global Green University Online Trainer of the Year SNEC Online Trainer of the Decade Reach out to Max Rünzel here LinkedIn:   / maxrunzel   Website: https://www.hivetracks.com/ Email: max@hivetracks.com Topics Covered: 01:21 Hive Mind and Bees 02:19 Bees in Agrivoltaics 04:53 Year Round Foraging 06:09 Baseline and Benchmarking 07:55 Pollen Pants Insights 11:27 Ecotoxicology and Honey 14:49 Breeding Calm Queens 16:18 Sizing and Placement 19:05 Safety and Signage 21:11 Hive Counts and Dearth 24:51 Waggle Dance Talk 27:52 Selling Solar Honey 29:19 Beekeeping Pathways 31:17 Sensors and IoT Scales 👍 Like • 💬 Comment • 🔔 Subscribe for more clean energy insights! #solarSEAN #SolarEnergy #SolarFarms #Agrivoltaics #Beekeeping #Pollinators #RenewableEnergy #Photovoltaic #CleanEnergy #Sustainability #HiveTracks #SeanWhitePodcast
