This course is the 37th retreat and a continuation of our study of the Gift of Liberation Thrust into the Palm of Your Hand by Pabongka Rinpoche. 2020 was the year that all of us will remember as the “Year of the Virus.” All around the world, we lost almost 3 million—all of us have a story about someone we loved, or someone that someone we love loved, being lost in this year. 2020 was a year that made us all take another look at our life. First of all, we realized that life really is precious, and that it is very fragile. We learned, with our own eyes, that we can all lose our life very easily. We learned that death doesn’t recognize young or old; weak or strong; wealthy or poor. 2020 made all of us really feel that—if our life is so precious and fragile—then we definitely need to do something with our life which is really valuable. 2020 gave all of us, to some degree, the desire to do something good with this short, beautiful life that we have. The Asian Classics Institute, along with teacher Geshe Michael Roach, has for ten years now been presenting a meditation retreat several times a year on the ancient Buddhist topic called Lam-Rim, or “Steps on the Path to Buddhahood.” We are very fortunate that the great traditional classic we are using, “A Gift of Liberation, Thrust into the Palms of Your Hands,” is now reaching a topic known as “The Best Thing You Can Do With Your Life.” This is a perfect topic for all of us just coming out of the traumatic times of this Great Pandemic. We’re going to learn to do some deep personal meditations that will fill our hearts with inspiration and guidance for our new life as we come out of the virus. And of course, as always, we will do so by helping others. For more information: https://www.asianclassicsinstitute.org https://www.theknowledgebase.com/archive
