Festival: V Festival 2009 Location: Weston Park, Staffordshire, England Source: In Ear Monitor Feed Tour: Dig Out Your Soul We come to an end this time with the Dig Out Your Soul tour this time around, fittingly with the final show the band ever performed. This source is from an in ear monitor feed, therefore it has some interference during some songs, but it's been mostly removed but is still noticeable occasionally. The band were supposed to play this festival in Chelmsford the day after this, but it was cancelled due to Liam coming down with laryngitis. I'm sure you all know the story that would take place over the next 6 days after this gig, but I'll sum it up for you. Noel and Liam get into a massive argument before they're due to go on stage in France on the 28th of August 2009 leading to Liam smashing Noel's guitar and Noel storming off and leaving the band leading to that performance being cancelled. It's a shame as they only had 4 gigs left to perform after this one, yet it ended so suddenly. On to the gig itself, a few interesting bits here, Tony McCarroll is in the audience tonight, it would be the only Oasis performance he'd ever go to as an audience member and also the last performance ever which is quite weird to think about, maybe there's some sort of McCarroll curse.. Liam sounds really bad this gig, he's not sounded great for the last few shows but even worse here, perhaps due to the laryngitis he'd have the day after. He's pulling away from the mic at the end of lines all the way through and mostly shouting here, which again is a shame. Chris Sharrock is referred to by Noel before The Masterplan as the "fifth and final drummer" which he's done in a few shows but is extremely fitting here. Regardless of how Liam sounds though, still worth a listen as it is the last gig they would ever perform. We'll be moving back on to the Standing on the Shoulder of Giants tour going forward, as voted by you on my community poll a few weeks back, starting with something from the start of the tour or one of their radio performances but I'm not entirely sure yet. Thank you all for being so consistent in viewing these gigs, even when I haven't been, I'm trying my best with the limited time I have at the moment but I'll be sure to get atleast one gig out a week from this point forward.
