D'future India Digital Conclave 2026 - International & Indian Research Tracks

At the India Digital Conclave 2026, two distinguished Professors shared powerful research insights on how artificial intelligence and technology can drive societal resilience and responsible innovation. Ramayya Krishnan, Dean Emeritus at Heinz College, Carnegie Mellon University, led the International Research Track, highlighting how AI can create value for both business and society. He discussed conversational AI across languages, AI-driven learning initiatives developed with the Gates Foundation, and the importance of governance, evaluation frameworks, and organisational transformation to operationalise AI effectively. His talk also explored the growing role of ambient AI in healthcare, particularly for rural communities, and the critical need for workforce adaptation and upskilling in an AI-driven future. The Indian Research Track was led by Probal Mojumder, Chairperson (PhD) at IIM Udaipur, who presented research on technology-enabled crisis response during the COVID-19 pandemic. Drawing on analysis of SOS messages on social media, particularly requests for oxygen cylinders in the Delhi NCR region, he demonstrated how online engagement patterns such as hashtags and replies increased the likelihood of receiving help. He also discussed the potential of large language models in disaster response, including detecting bias, replicating human urgency, and enabling human–AI collaboration in healthcare resource allocation during emergencies.
