A 4K evening walk around the quieter side of Nagoya Station in Nagoya, Japan, from late afternoon into the night. Starting from the busy front of the station, the walk slips through a green tunnel under the train tracks, follows quiet streets to Kamejima, crosses Honjin-dori on a footbridge, passes old houses and the maglev construction site, and ends with Tsubakicho at night and a walk back through Nagoya Station.
Filmed October 22, 2026
This time, you walk with Shin, who has lived in Nagoya for almost 40 years. There is no spoken narration — Shin speaks to you through short English captions on screen.
It was a nice evening, so Shin took the long way around Nagoya Station. The plan: a big loop out west, and back to the station after dark.
Along the way: a line outside a ramen shop before dinner, a doorstep ready for Halloween, and a lantern covered in plum blossoms. Kamejima literally means "Turtle Island" (no turtles spotted). From the old houses, the station towers rise in the distance. On the west side of the station, a new station is being built for the Linear Chuo Shinkansen maglev train, designed to reach about 500 km/h (300 mph). After sunset, Tsubakicho fills with small restaurants and bars.
A note from Shin: in Nagoya dialect, "dera" means "really." The station towers at night are dera beautiful.
No spoken narration.
