Staying True to Yourself at Haverford College w/ Charlie Russ | Ep. 14

The transition from high school to Haverford was not easy. Imagine up for a 6 am lift, listening to hurtful slurs in the locker room, then going home to study for a physics test late into the night, only to find yourself with a low GPA at the end of freshman year. But by the end of senior year, Charlie had changed majors, pulled his grades up and today, he’s never been more excited about a career in energy policy on the Hill. Check out this week’s interview to listen to Charlie’s journey and transformation! 0:00 Preview 0:25 Introducing Charlie Russ, Haverford Political Science ’20 1:10 What was high school Charlie like? 3:53 Transition to Haverford, Student-Athlete Struggle 8:44 Fitting in with Haverford Lacrosse 12:45 Coming out as bi 15:04 Highest high in college, moving to DC, sales tips 24:04 Starting jobs 28:18 What excites you about energy? 30:50 How did you get started in energy, politics, or energy politics? 32:08 What do you do for fun? 33:15 What two pieces of advice would you give to high school Charlie?
