Walter White's greatest skill was making people believe he knew the answer. But when did being the smartest man in the room become permission to decide for everyone else? This psychological character analysis follows Breaking Bad through all five seasons, from Jesse's ruined bathtub to Gale's dangerous apprenticeship, Todd's careful notes and the final choice Jesse makes without his teacher's approval. My reading is that Walt wants more than money or recognition. He needs to remain necessary. His chemistry earns trust; his control turns that trust into a trap. We also look at the moments when his love for Jesse and his family is real, and why that love does not erase the harm.
