The husband, Katsugoro is a drunken fish vendor, who has been away from work for twenty days. When he finally goes to the fish market in Shibahama, he picks up a leather wallet with a lot of money inside. He hurries home and shows it to his wife, saying the money is his now, and he will be able to keep drinking without going to work anymore.
