MISSING SINCE CHRISTMAS: We Found Him in the Lake and Solved the Case

On Christmas Day 2025, 34-year-old Fernando Ortiz was last seen near Liberty Hill Road in Troup County, Georgia. His truck was later found near a West Point Lake access area, but searches by ground teams, boats, a drone, and a helicopter did not locate him. Nine days later, volunteer recovery specialists Jeremy Sides and Adam Brown arrived with two different sonar platforms: a full-size search boat and a compact remote-controlled craft designed to scan the shallow margin close to shore. In a little more than two hours, the smaller boat detected an unusual return among submerged trees, stumps, and sediment. Fernando was located in West Point Lake on January 3, 2026.
