The development follows objections raised by tribunal judges in September 2026 against mandatory Aadhaar authentication on the Election Commission's online portal. The authentication dispute has delayed the uploading of final appeal orders, raising concerns about electoral transparency, judicial independence, voter rights, and the functioning of the SIR appeals system. The Election Commission is reportedly preparing to replace Aadhaar-based authentication with digital signatures to address the judges' objections.
