A walk along the main street of Petropavlovsk

Constitution Street in Petropavlovsk is the longest pedestrian street in the world. The initiative to include it in the Guinness Book of Records was made by public activists Constitution Street is the main street of Petropavlovsk. Exactly here commercial and residential merchant houses were built, administrative buildings stood, and mass events were organized: processions, rallies and demonstrations. The last name - Constitution of Kazakhstan - was given to the new Constitution of the newly-independent Republic of Kazakhstan. In this part of Petropavlovsk modern multi-storey buildings are in harmony with the old merchant mansions, most of which have already been restored. At present on this street there are: the city and regional administrations, maslikhats, the regional court, the regional and city prosecutor's offices, several banks, the House of Justice, the printing house and the editorial offices of regional newspapers, the Regional Department of Internal Affairs, the City Park, etc. The last major reconstruction of this part of the city was carried out in 2000. At that time the street was paved with different kinds of paving stones, arbors and street lamps were built, many flowers and trees were planted, which made it a favorite recreation area for the citizens and guests of Petropavlovsk.
