Is Tiyu Xilu Station on Guangzhou Metro still extremely crowded in 2025?

Having heard that Guangzhou Metro's Tiyu Xilu ("Sports West Road") station is infamous for being super congested, I checked out this station during the afternoon rush hours during my recent visit to Guangzhou. What is it like? Why is this station (and also the entire metro line 3) so crowded? How does it compare to the busiest stations on Shanghai Metro? Any potential future development?
