🌱 Evening Descending Mercy — BG 13.14 — Getting Grounded With Sri Guru: From Transcendental Vision to Loving Service — 09/17/2026 When we hear Guruvastakam and Guru-vandana every morning, it is a great opportunity to become grounded in Guru-tattva and Sri Guru. We should ask ourselves: How much am I actually present with Sri Guru during these five to ten minutes? If I am not present during this time, how will I be present for the rest of the day? So I should really be present here—attentive and prayerful—to become grounded with Sri Guru. We want to get plugged in, get grounded, get connected, and stay connected. Bhagavan is present everywhere. He is present in the heart. Sadhu-Guru, Sri Guru, is the one who gives us the presence of Bhagavan. Dhruva Maharaja’s darshan of Narayana was made possible because of Narada Muni. In the same way, Sri Guru makes the darshan of Bhagavan available to us at all times. It happens through Sri Guru and the spiritual potency. Sri Guru is like an auspicious cloud giving us soothing showers of Krishna. He is always engaged in loving seva of Bhagavan—Bhagavan present in the Nama, Bhagavan present in Sri Vigraha, Bhagavan present in the hearts of all living entities, and Bhagavan present everywhere. He is relishing every moment of loving service to Bhagavan, with Bhagavan, with Rupa and Lila, relishing Sri Radhika and Krishna. So we are not anathas; we are sanathas. We are always in the shelter of the spiritual potency. Let the words of the Acharya and Sri Guru, the guru-mukha-padma-vakya, become blended into our chitta. What else do we want? We don’t want maya. We want only Krishna, Krishna. Let these instructions guide us. How do we know they are blending into our bhava? That is when jnana turns into vijnana—when there is realization. A person with the mood of sharanagati does not simply sit in a corner and have that mood. Sharanagati is expressed as loving service outside. Sri Guru is our master—not just in this life, but life after life—because He gives us transcendental vision to see Bhagavan. He gives us prema and dispels ignorance and misery. The whole darkness is dispelled when the heart is filled with Krishna and love for Krishna. Therefore, our effort, time, and bhakti should go in that direction. How can I fill my heart with Krishna? How can I allow Krishna? It is not about, “How can I get rid of my misery? I have so much pain. Let me make a plan to get rid of it.” Our energy and thought should not be in that direction. Miseries will be there. This body will do its own thing, and this mind will do its own thing. But I belong to Guru and Krishna. My direction, focus, and energy should be: “How can I serve You, Guru and Krishna?” Even though the mind is going here and there, You are still giving me seva. You are still giving me remembrance. So wonderful. So grateful. Now, what is my next seva? What can I do for You, please? Who cares about what the mind says? We care about what is next for Guru and Krishna. Unless we take this approach, there is never a point at which the mind is completely subdued. We may be adhamas, but Sri Guru, Sadhu-Guru, is picking us up from the modes. All the Vaishnavas are like desire-fulfilling trees. They are dear to Bhagavan. We bow down to the Vaishnavas, take the dust from their lotus feet, smear it on our heads, and dance in joy. This is the transcendental land of divine love, the gentle groves of Vrindavana where we belong. Our morning prayer and sankalpa should be that, wherever we are during the day, we should be able to come to this place—the transcendental groves of Vrindavana, where the vision is only darshan of Sri Radha-Madhava, where the only activity is sakhi-anugatya to Sri Radhika-Madhava, and where the heart is filled with love for Sri Radhika-Madhava. The service can be any kind of service to Bhagavan, any service in bhakti. That service is simply a medium and an expression for Krishna. So more than asking what kind of service I am doing, the question is: How much is my heart looking for the love of God? How much is it moving in that direction? May the heart be filled with love for Sri Radha-Govinda, Sri Radhika-Madhava. Very short takeaways: Be truly present and prayerful with Sri Guru every morning. Let Guru-mukha-padma-vakya become blended into the chitta. Sharanagati is expressed through loving service. Keep the energy focused on Guru and Krishna, not on controlling misery. Let every seva become a medium and expression of love for Sri Radhika-Madhava. 🙏🙏
