The Maranda School Phenomenon

The KCSE results are out and for the first time in many years, the status quo has been upset. This year, it is not Alliance High School, Mangu or Starehe Boys Centre perched at the top, but rather Maranda High School from Bondo, Nyanza region. The school was also in the headlines last year when it dispelled the myth that people from Nyanza region were not proficient in the Swahili language, by emerging the best performing in Kiswahili in the 2010 KCSE Examination. Judy Kosgei went out to find out the secret of the school established in 1919 in Bondo district.
