We tested both tanks on the AION 2 Global servers, and the Gladiator held up in harder content better than a lot of players expect. There is no clear winner, just trade-offs, so here is which one fits how you play. WHAT WE COVER Can a Gladiator actually main tank Conquest and Hard Expeditions? Normal dungeons: speed vs safety with a Gladiator in front Survivability: Templar mitigation and Warding Shield healing vs Gladiator life steal Aggro: a real taunt button vs holding threat with damage Party demand, gear and free-to-play The Templar mana myth, tested from level 1 to 45 Solo farming, switching to DPS, and PvP The verdict, and which one I main THE TRADE-OFF Templar: taunt, the most defense, and healing on every successful block (Warding Shield). Gladiator: slightly more damage, healing on every hit, faster pack clearing, no taunt. Its self-healing matters most when your group has no dedicated healer. My pick: Templar. It fits my play style, it is a bit more tanky, and I enjoy the toolkit. CHAPTERS 0:00 Templar or Gladiator?
