I apologize about the focus! Spirit has been on a tear this year in my opinion. If I had unlimited room and an unlimited budget I would have bought Pumpkin Patch Prowler and Xenomorph this year as well, but it's alright. This zombie is what I think we need more of in the modern Halloween space. I think that we've come so far in trying to create unique and quirky characters that we've neglected the basics. We've also neglected the art of making basic characters stand out in a way that makes them desirable as props. Spirit has been doing that very well lately, especially with zombies- Rick Ratman was pretty cool imo. The completely unique jaw-dropping and eye-popping animation this has is so cool. Along with that, the full-body rocking and the arm swiping really brings this to life. The metal frame is thick and extremely sturdy, and the swaying mech is reinforced compared to previous iterations seen on older props. As expected, the big overbuilt SVI all-purpose gearboxes are used within the body. The jaw and eye popping mech is of course completely custom, and seems quite complex. While I haven't investigated it in person, from what I've seen there appears to be some kind of clutch between the spool for the eye and jaw, and something that complex could break down fast if it's not designed right. Hopefully it will last a long time, because it's the coolest part of this prop. One thing I would like to highlight is the audio- while it may be reused some from Bog Zombie, it is perfectly simple. No music, background effects, just zombie noises. I really appreciate that and hope to see that same simplicity on upcoming items. I wouldn't be surprised if we find out that this prop was on the backburner for Spirit since like the early 2010s or even late 2000s. The clothes are standard SVI (mid) but the blood detailing on them is a welcome touch. What is much better than usual is the paint on the hands and face, which completely took me by surprise. The detail on the head sculpt is honestly some of the best you can get for the money these days. I love that they programmed this guy to stop moving while his face resets and made it part of the audio- it almost gives the illusion that he is stopping to adjust his face, as well as eliminate the annoying reset cycle a lot of SVI animatronics have after they're done with a phrase. The one gripe I have with this item is that the arm and body rocking movement are exactly the same speed. I would have preferred the arm move slightly faster to make him appear as if he is stumbling more but I appreciate that they even put movement in the arm at all. I would have also liked to see the head move somehow, although that would definitely put the dropping mech at risk. 20% off made this item doable, but if you can get this yourself at around the $200 mark that would be money WELL spent. I've had quite a bit of trouble finding this guy at stores in all honesty, so it might be worth getting this sooner rather than later if it intrigues you. #spirit #spirithalloween #halloween #halloweenprops #animatronics
