Welcome Friend🍻🍻 Pull up a stool by the fire, Friend. Tonight's bard song is a dark and gleeful tavern tale, sung by a smooth-talking genie who grants every wish exactly as you speak it. He has watched a hundred masters get all they ever craved, and he would love to tell you how it ended for each of them. So make your wish, traveller, but listen close before you do. Thank you for the song idea to @jaymroe95 "I’d be happy if you added it to your roster! I call this one “Careful what you wish for.” An upbeat comical pop song sung by a sly genie, giving fair warning to his master that every wish has an unforeseen cost, and if he gets too greedy, he may just bite off more than he can chew. Almost reminiscent of “Never had a friend like me” but much more ominous, mischievous and medieval. If this line could be included in it somehow (feel free to edit as you see fit) “Careful what you wish for. Be it riches, fame, palace or more. For once you see all your debts will stack, by then, my friend, there’s no turning back.” 🧞‍♂️ ———————————————————————— This one is pure acoustic medieval mischief: bouncy lute and cittern, a droning hurdy-gurdy, a darting fiddle and tin whistle, frame drum and tambourine, with bright shawm and sackbut for the sting. Equal parts comical showtune and ominous warning, the kind of song a real tavern would hush for, then sing along to anyway. ———————————————————————— 🎯 Perfect for: A late-night DnD session when a trickster NPC takes the stage Worldbuilding a bargain with a fae, a devil, or a genie in your campaign Writing a villain who gives the hero exactly what they asked for A mischievous tavern playlist with a dark edge Anyone who loves story-driven fantasy folk with a wicked grin ———————————————————————— 🔔 Subscribe to hear every new song as the bards of Ethernia perform it 👍 Like if this song found you at the right moment 💬 Tell us in the comments: if the genie were real, what would you wish for? ———————————————————————— 🎧 Hear the bards across every realm 🎧 YouTube Music:    / bards of ethernia - topic   🎵 Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/artist/0Gwxl... 🍎 Apple Music:   / bards-of-ethernia   ———————————————————————— 📜 Lyrics: Oh, you've rubbed on the lamp Did you call Here I rise Why, good evening, dear master, what a lovely surprise Now let's hear what you long for, speak it bold, speak it clear But be careful, dear master, with each word you bring here My last master wished all that he touched would turn gold So I granted the gift, and behold, and behold Now his cup turns to gold when he lifts it to sip And he hugged his own daughter... she won't move a lip And a maiden once wished that she never would die So she lives, and she lives, as the centuries fly Now she's withered to bone and she begs for the grave But I serve a new master, and she's no wish to save So be careful, dear master, be careful what you crave I will hand you it all, I'm your faithful, glad slave But you only get three, then the magic is spent And you cannot un-wish where your three wishes went So be careful what you wish for... and what you meant And a beggar once wished for a crown and a throne So I crowned him at once, and now look, he's alone Every lord wants him dead, every neighbour wants war And he hasn't a clue what a crown is even for And a man wished for power, to be greater than me Well, he won, he's the mightiest djinn you could see Now he's sealed in a lamp just a bit grander than mine And I'll own that I envy his prison's design So be careful, dear master, be careful what you crave I will hand you it all, I'm your faithful, glad slave But you only get three, then the magic is spent And you cannot un-wish where your three wishes went So be careful what you wish for... and what you meant One wished he could fly, so I threw him up high He forgot to wish down... now he's stuck in the sky One wished to be unseen, so I rubbed him from sight Now he can't sleep for dread... and he's mad before night And a thousand wished gold... but that gold has a lord And the lord always comes, with his men and his sword So now it is your turn, dear master Have your say I will grant what you ask, and I'll grant it today I won't cheat, I won't trick, every word will come true But whatever it costs you, that cost is on you So be careful, dear master, be careful what you crave I will hand you it all, I'm your faithful, glad slave But you only get three, then the magic is spent And you cannot un-wish where your three wishes went So be careful what you wish for... and what you meant You cannot un-wish Where your three wishes went Rub the brass, dear master... and make your first wish #BardSong #FantasyMusic #TavernMusic #MedievalMusic #FantasyFolk #DnD #CelticMusic #LyricsVideo #DarkFantasy #Genie #Minstrel #FolkSong #Bard
