Kola is celebrated as an annual festival in parts of southern and northern Karnataka, especially in Mangalore and Udupi. This kola is a form of worship to the spirits and gods. The locals worship the spirits for the welfare of the village. Angry spirits mean that something bad is likely to happen in the village. Therefore, the local people of the village perform this puja to satisfy the souls.
