I also examine the stories Aubrey Trail told, the testimony about the so-called witches of Wilber, and what the courts actually established. I follow both trials, the convictions of Aubrey Trail and Bailey Boswell, and the different sentences that followed. The record explains why Trail received death and Boswell received life in prison. I also compare the case record with Hulu’s series Swipe Right on the Devil, including its focus on witchcraft, recruitment and manipulation. The goal is to separate what was testified to in court from what remains unproven.
