Welcome into the lobby of the old movie palace. The black cats have set up in the middle of the room, where the red carpet runs back toward the auditorium doors. Gold walls with slim gilt trim fill the space, brass wall lamps glow amber down each side, a brass and glass popcorn machine sits lit up at one end, and a velvet rope stands at the other. The band is playing one number before the picture starts, in burgundy vests and mustard bow ties. The music is amber vintage noir jazz with an easy swing to it, played by the whole quintet: saxophone, trumpet, upright bass, piano and a light touch on the drums.
