Long before colour film, the Swiss "Photochrom" process turned black-and-white negatives into vivid colour prints. Between about 1890 and 1905 the Photoglob company in Zürich and the Detroit Publishing Co. in the USA used it to record the whole world: Venice and Amsterdam, the Alps, Victorian seaside resorts, the markets of Tunis, the harbour of Calcutta, Chicago and the Wild West. 140 photochrom prints · 7 chapters · no narration, just calm classical music.
