Every code change needs a realistic environment, and each developer now runs many coding agents. Sharing one staging environment means it is always broken, or every change waits in line to be tested. Copying the whole stack for every change is slow to start and costly to run.
Signadot shares what it can and isolates what is under test. A sandbox holds only the services a change touched. Together with the shared baseline, such as staging, it makes an ephemeral environment. Request routing sends requests with a routing key to the sandbox. Message routing does the same for Kafka, RabbitMQ, SQS, Pub/Sub and Temporal. Resource plugins create databases, queues, buckets and other resources for a sandbox, inside or outside Kubernetes, and remove them when it ends.
The same ephemeral environments serve both loops. Coding agents write code, spin up an environment, run end-to-end tests against real services, fix what fails and open a pull request only when everything passes. CI gets an environment for every pull request to run end-to-end, security and performance tests before merge.
