I Turned Back for the First Time┃Pico Maladeta

Weeks before successfully summiting Pico Maladeta, I faced a decision I had never made before in the mountains. For the first time, I turned back from a summit objective. After reaching the maladeta glacier, I had to traverse on dangerous terrain to the summit of Antecima NW de la Maladeta, the conditions and my own judgment led me to stop on the ridge, 50 meters vertically short of Pico Maladeta. It wasn't the outcome I had planned, but it became one of the most important lessons I’ve learned in the mountains.
