What if Germany had invaded Britain in 1940? In September 1940, two thousand four hundred river barges waited in the Channel ports, and every church bell in Britain was silenced, ready to ring only if the Germans landed. On the night of 7 September the codeword Cromwell went out and, here and there, the bells rang. It was a false alarm. This film follows what really happened, and then the other world where Göring never switched to London. You'll meet Winston Churchill, Admiral Erich Raeder, General Franz Halder, Air Vice-Marshal Keith Park, General Alan Brooke and Sergeant John Hannah, the eighteen-year-old who won the Victoria Cross over the invasion barges.
