Razu – When Winter Knows My Name

“When Winter Knows My Name” is a cinematic alternative rock song by Somnium Works about feeling distant from the people closest to you — and hoping they will stay. Inspired by my novel “Poet der Monddämmerung”, the music video moves between everyday friendship, winter streets and surreal dreamscapes, exploring loneliness, belonging and an unfamiliar change within. I wrote “Poet der Monddämmerung” in 2012, and parts of my own life found their way into the book. The book was only available in german for a short time. Afterwards, I left both the book and its story untouched for many years. With “When Winter Knows My Name”, I returned not only to the story, but also to the memories connected to it. Bringing them back to life through music and images felt a little liberating - and it still does. The music video is a kind of an adaptation of the book, while the lyrics were inspired by the story itself and by the great band - Poets of the Fall. The song was created with Suno and the visuals were made with Runway. Everyone shown in the video is an interpretation of a character from the novel - no real actors or singers were involved. #AlternativeRock #CinematicMusicVideo #SomniumWorks
