The Labyrinth Ensemble with Ross Daly and Kelly Thoma: Aylin

In a stunning conclusion of four years of study, the first iteration of the Labyrinth Ensemble toured Southern Ontario with the esteemed Ross Daly and Kelly Thoma. Now deeply attuned to the idioms of modal music, the twelve musicians tackled a breadth of complex tunes and rhythms during their two weeks of study. Drawing from Daly's 35+ albums of contemporary modal music compositions, this was a full-circle moment for the Ensemble as Daly founded the original Labyrinth in Crete and is recognized as the foremost expert on the island's rich musical tradition along with his longtime collaborator Kelly Thoma. The touring members of the Labyrinth Ensemble are Sadaf Amini, Julian Anderson-Bowes, Yang Chen, Burak Ekmekçi, Michael K. Harrist, Roa Lee, Naomi McCarroll-Butler, Sasan Salaseli, Araz Salek, Marta Solek, Tev Stevig, Aysel Taghi-Zada, and Amely Zhou.
