Nashil Pichen Kazembe - Mungeli Ufwaya / Babili Babili - Full Zambian Single

Zambian Music records posted on Tuesdays and Fridays! For this recording we have Nashil Pichen Kazembe with an early Luapula record from the late 1970's. There are two songs on this one. Unlike a lot of my uploads, this one is recorded off a record that is in excellent physical condition, so the recording is clear and bright, and a great showcase for a pair of excellent Kazembe tracks. Nashil Pichen Kazembe is among the best known and popular artists in Zambian music in the 1970's and 80's and was a highly influential figure in southern African music. Originally from Luapula Province in Zambia, he left Zambia to pursue a music career, first working in Mombasa before moving to Kenya in the early 1960's. He spent a long time in Nairobi, Kenya, where he collaborated with fellow Zambia emigres Peter Tsotsi and Benson Simbeye. As members of Eagles Lupopo Band they sang 'patriotic songs' praising President Kenneth Kaunda and commenting on various social issues. Kazemba later produced a good deal of music for other artists and had a string of hits in Zambia as well. He died in 1991. Want more Kazembe?
