The Panthers had thicker armor and a longer gun. Facing them was the M18 Hellcat, thin-skinned, open-topped and cheap. At Arracourt the fog erased the Panther's range advantage and the Hellcat's speed did the rest. By the end the two panzer brigades were gutted.
