Houdini3DM is a pair of HDAs that read and write Rhino .3dm files directly in Houdini. Layers, colours and block definitions survive the trip in both directions. You no longer need file conversions, and rebuilding of your scene by hand. It also writes out NURBS geometry for the export from Houdini. GET IT https://yutohw.gumroad.com/l/houdini3dm DOCUMENTATION https://github.com/yutohw/Houdini3DM-... WHAT IT DOES The import node reads the .3dm itself, converts NURBS to polygons at the resolution set in Rhino's own mesh settings, and dissolves the triangulation back into clean planar faces. Layers, materials, object names and colours arrive as Houdini attributes. Blocks come out as definitions plus instance points, ready to wire straight into Copy to Points. The export node writes back out. Flat surfaces and single-curved surfaces are converted to real NURBS; complex geometry is written as a mesh, which is what you want anyway. Blocks round-trip as native Rhino blocks, and you can build new ones in Houdini by tagging geometry with a block attribute. Because the export writes NURBS, it also works as a mesh-to-Rhino converter: load an OBJ, FBX or STL model in Houdini, clean it up, and write a workable native Rhino file.
