The Renault 4 Finally Gets Its Paint! | R4 Episode 5 Full Body Restoration

The body shell, all four doors, the fenders and the hood needed a lot of work before this little Renault could finally get its fresh blue paint. The body required several welding and metal repairs, along with plenty of preparation before it was ready for paint. I decided NOT to completely sandblast the body shell. Instead, I carefully blasted the critical seams and overlapping sheet metal areas using a spot sandblaster. These areas were then treated with rust converter, coated with epoxy primer and properly sealed to protect them from future corrosion. After completing all the bodywork and preparation, the body, doors, fenders and hood were repainted. Once the paint had cured, I wet-sanded and polished the finish before finally bringing back one of the most important details of this car: the original-style decals of the Renault 4 Sixties Edition. Unfortunately, there is one rather painful part missing from this episode. I managed to completely and permanently delete ALL of the original footage of the painting process. Yes. All of it. Luckily, I had documented some of the progress in my daily Patreon vlogs, so I was at least able to recover a few clips and give you a glimpse of what happened during the missing part of the restoration.
