Decorative Gilding Waxes - Make Your Own!

Gilding waxes are typically used to embellish a piece, to highlight certain elements. You can buy them.. but why not try making them.... in whatever colours appeal to you! This was quick, easy and a little addictive. In making them in the future I would plan on lots of small (1-2oz) containers, which would give you plenty of any one colour to use in your projects. I used the full 200g bag of Wax pellets and you can see just how much of the gilding wax I ended with. You can always start small... see what you think of the colours before making more. Don't forget that it is still just wax... you can melt it down and add more colour and pigment to it if it isn't as intense as you'd like! If you want it firmer then add more wax! You aren't locked into anything here!!
