This week on EP228 So What's Been Happening? we're catching up with Central Victorian AuDHD punk outfit RELAYS, a band that's quickly earned a reputation as one of Australia's most exciting and unpredictable live acts. Fresh from releasing their new single "Laziest Man In Australia", taken from their forthcoming album Did You Hear That Water Is Wet? (Impressed Recordings), the trio continue to blend blistering punk energy, sharp humour and unapologetic neurodivergent perspectives into songs that are as thought-provoking as they are infectious. Following the success of Are Plovers Neurodiverse?, RELAYS are proving that punk can be loud, clever and downright hilarious all at once.
Fronted by autistic, ADHD and dyslexic producer, vocalist and guitarist Shann Lions, alongside Mik Weird and Phil Inn, RELAYS have achieved plenty in less than two years. From international radio play and more than 30,000 Spotify streams to a 23-date national tour and support slots with You Am I, Magic Dirt, The Meanies and The Smith Street Band, their rise has been rapid. We'll dive into the making of their Creative Victoria-funded album Did You Hear That Water Is Wet?, life on the road, the realities of creating music as neurodivergent artists, and the stories behind some of the most memorable song titles in Australian punk.
