A family reunion at an isolated English country estate. A hidden will. Two forgotten heirs. And a murderer determined to keep the past buried forever.
In the summer of 1934, Hercule Poirot receives a disturbing invitation from Mrs. Edwina Woodley, the widow of a wealthy and ruthless shipping magnate. She is convinced that someone will be murdered when the Woodley family gathers at Thornmere Hall for the first time since her husband’s death.
Behind the elegant dinners and polite conversation, Poirot discovers resentment, financial desperation and secrets stretching back more than twenty years. When the family solicitor is found dead in his bedroom, the reunion becomes a murder investigation—and everyone inside Thornmere Hall becomes a suspect.
A concealed photograph, an altered will and the mysterious “Arrangement of 1914” lead Poirot toward a truth that could destroy the Woodley family forever. But before he can expose the killer, another person may be silenced.
