Wrestling Officiating: Mentorship, Mechanics & Positioning with CA State Official Don Valdez

What separates a good wrestling official from a great one? It’s more than knowing the rule book. In this episode of *Full Circle Wrestling**, I sit down with **California State Wrestling Official Don Valdez* to discuss three areas that can dramatically impact an official’s development: *mentorship, mechanics, and positioning.* 🤝 *MENTORSHIP* Why every wrestling official—new or experienced—needs people who will provide honest feedback, challenge them, and help them continue improving. 🤼 *MECHANICS* Strong mechanics build credibility. We discuss how presentation, signals, movement, and consistency can help officials look confident and effectively communicate their calls. 📍 *POSITIONING* You can't make the call if you can't see the action. Don and I break down why positioning and anticipation are critical to getting the best angle and making the correct call. Whether you're a **new wrestling referee, veteran official, coach, wrestler, or wrestling parent**, this conversation provides valuable insight into what happens behind the whistle and how officials continue developing their craft. 🔥 *HELP US GROW THE WRESTLING COMMUNITY!* 👍 LIKE this episode 💬 COMMENT with your biggest takeaway 📲 SHARE it with another wrestler, coach, or official 🔔 SUBSCRIBE to *Full Circle Wrestling* on YouTube and turn on notifications.
