How to Make a Backpack USING A CHAIR: What to do with a broken camping chair| Upcycled Mini Backpack

Hope you enjoy watching me try to make a backpack out of a chair. I had so much fun upcycling a broken camping chair into a mini backpack. Of course the next time I make a backpack I would change a few things but I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. MATERIALS: Broken chair with intact fabric Zipper (preferably 35 cm) -https://amzn.to/30AMubY Strap Adjusters - https://amzn.to/3rKDKf9 Black Strap (optional but recommended) - https://amzn.to/38BMNHN Printed Pattern Scissors & seam ripper Sewing machine SEWING MUST HAVES: Sewing Pins, Measuring Tape, Seam Ripper - https://amzn.to/3uzIjuL I recommend a good pair of FABRIC SCISSORS so you never have any trouble cutting your cloth- https://amzn.to/3swvhwd Sewing Machine (The one I use is a really old Brother model and sometimes a newer Singer model, but the kind isn't a huge deal as long as it has assorted foots and a strait and zig-zag stitch) DISCLAIMER: Links included in this description may be affiliate links. Thank you for supporting me so I can continue to provide you with content!  __Basic Instructions:____________________________ Print out pattern, cut it out, place it on your fabric and cut out of your fabric (because the fabric has a plastic side don’t pierce the fabric with pins) __Body___ Sew the two zip bands to the zipper and top stitch around the zipper (you want the zip bands to be the same length as the zipper so any “extra” fabric should be included in the length of the belly band) Sew the belly band to the zip band (you can include pull tabs in these seams) Optional: cut the cupholder in half, sew trim on the top of it, measure 4 inches down from the zipper/belly seam and sew the bottom of the net to the belly band __Front___ Sew the corners of the pocket base piece together Add trim around the rounded flap edge and the top of the pocket Sew both on to the front of the pocket (hide all raw edges) Optional: you can add velcro or a button to seal the pocket __Back____ Optional: with extra fabric square, place trim on one edge and sew the other three sides to the wrong side (plastic side) of your back piece Use the padding from the chair arm (1 inch wide) and fold over your strap fabric, sewing the padding inside Sew the black straps (5-6 inch pieces) to the strap adjusters (burn the edges of the strap to prevent fraying) Sew the above black straps to the strap fabric (you may want to use an X stitch here to distribute tension) Add trim along the edges of your strap Sew two strips of black strap to the bottom corners of your back piece (use the X stitch) Attach the fabric straps and both edges of a 5 inch piece of black strap to the top of the back piece __Combine_____ Sew the front piece to the body piece (paying careful attention to the net from the pockets and that the zipper is centered on the top of the backpack) Open the zipper halfway and sew the back piece to the body piece Flip inside out and pull the bottom black straps through the strap adjusters :) _____________________________________________________________________ Follow me on Instagram:   / sierra_make   Check out my Redbubble: https://www.redbubble.com/people/Sier... _____________________________________________________________________ Dora the Explorer music is copyrighted by Nickelodeon (P) 2010 Viacom International Inc.
