A Stump, A Spade, and a Bad Idea...

The work continues on our neglected allotment, and this time there’s one fairly substantial problem standing in the way — an old tree stump buried in the corner of the main bed. Armed with little more than a spade, some questionable optimism and absolutely no experience removing tree stumps, I set about digging it out. We’re slowly working our way through the plot, clearing years of overgrowth and bringing the beds back into use. There’s a long way to go, but every job gets us a little closer. We took the allotment on after years on the waiting list, with the aim of learning to grow our own food, spending more time outdoors and giving our son somewhere to enjoy as he grows up.
