Spain and Portugal | Final Day | Burgos (ES) to Tours (FR)

This is the final day of our 2026 trip. For 2026 we decided to see what GA in Spain and Portugal has to offer. This was a long leg with a VFR departure (IFR is only available during limited hours at Burgos) and then switching to IFR at the Spain/France border. We had to delay by one day due to some awful weather and there was some doubt for this leg as to where the cloud tops would be, since as we moved north the freezing level was was forecast to drop dramatically and we needed to avoid icing conditions in the DA40 which is not equipped for flight into icing conditions. Thankfully we were able to remain VMC for most of the cruise and only had to descend through freezing conditions very briefly on the approach to Tours where we refuelled and cleared customs to fly back to the UK.
