Erythraia Meli Sirto ERT - Dance Traditions of the Greeks of Anatolia 3

This is the third in a series of videos exploring the dances of the former Greek inhabitants of Anatolia. The Greeks of coastal west Asia Minor, especially those of the Erythraia / Cesme Peninsula near to Izmir / Smyrna had strong cultural and economic ties to the offshore islands of the Aegean as well as islands of the Cyclades as evidenced in the popularity of the Aegean dances, Syrtos and Ballos. Here, the refugees from the village of Meli who settled close to Megara in Attica dance a form of couple's Syrto (common also on nearby Chios / Sakiz and Mytilini / Midili) to the tune "Arhina Ghlossa"
