The first snow of the year is falling outside, and nobody in here is going anywhere.
"Kissaten" (純喫茶) are the old-fashioned Japanese coffee houses of the Showa era — velvet seats, siphon coffee, lace curtains, and nobody rushing you. A cup of coffee and a plate of sandwiches by the window, a cream soda in the back booth, a record turning behind the counter, and the shop cat asleep on the warm window sill.
You may never have been to Japan. Somehow, this place still feels like somewhere you have been before.
The shop sits on a narrow back street in Tokyo. Snow settles on the tiled roofs, the wooden utility poles and the tangled power lines. Inside, the lamps are amber and the glass stays warm.
Perfect for:
• Studying, working, or reading
• Cold afternoons and long evenings
• Housework and quiet routines
• Any day you would rather stay in
All music is original and created for Tokyo Kissaten.
Take the window seat. Stay until it stops.
