BROKEN 100-Year-Old Mirror Restoration | ASMR Restoration

I found this early-1900s mirror in my grandparents’ basement. It was badly damaged, the original mirror was broken, and years of old finish were hiding the beautiful carved details underneath. I immediately saw its potential. In this restoration, I completely stripped and refinished the wooden frame, repaired the damaged areas, restored the carved details, routed the frame for a new custom-cut mirror and added warm LED backlighting while keeping the original character of the piece. The restoration included: • removing the old finish • repairing the wooden frame • filling old nail holes • restoring the carved details • routing a recess for the new mirror • creating channels for the LED wiring • installing and wiring the LED strips • adding light diffusers • fitting a custom-cut mirror • waxing and polishing the finished wood The goal wasn’t to make this mirror look new. It was to preserve what made it special while giving it a new life. No talking — just the sounds of the restoration process.
