HE SAW HIS TEARS My king, do you remember When Assyria raised its sword? You laid that letter before the Lord And He delivered us all But when I saw you falling My whole world fell with you “Set your house in order For you shall die and not live” You turned your face against the wall And called upon the Lord “O Lord, remember me I walked before You with all my heart” Those tears still haunt my memory You wept before the Lord “I have heard your prayer And I have seen your tears Behold, I will heal you And grant you fifteen more years” They laid the figs upon your wound But life was in the hands of God My king, can you see it? The shadow turns ten steps backward! You showed your treasures to those strangers You could not see the days to come “Your treasures and your heirs Shall be carried off to Babylon” Now you rest among your fathers But still I see you as you were A king who laid his crown aside A man who sought the Lord through tears In war, You gave us victory! In death, You gave him life! O Maker who turned back the shadow! I saw the tears upon your face And the Lord Himself saw every tear!
