Mazda Miata Restoration Part 8 - Mass Air Flow Sensor and Throttle Body

Today I am going to clean the MAF (Mass Air Flow Sensor) and inspect and clean the throttle body and intake manifold with some SeaFoam. Come along with us as we clean up and rule out a couple of items that may be making that pesky check engine soon light come on, on this 1996 Mazda Miata that Thomas bought as his first "sports car". ----- Thomas has wanted his own Autocross car for years... He found one! We drove to Lake Charles Louisiana and picked up a 1996 Mazda Miata from a nice guy who happened to be a mechanic. It's in decent shape for a 1996 car that hasn't really been touched or modified. It is bone stock, with a little oil residue in all the normal places and very little body rust. There's some rust inside from rain water, but no real body rust through or anything. It should make for a good project car that has been relatively unmolested. It's a good starting point for him.The engine seems to be in decent shape, the transmission shifts like soft butter, the clutch feels good and the tires, brakes and suspension all seem to be in decent shape for a car this old. I am proud of my son, he did a decent job of finding a relatively solid, non-rusted and unmolested classic Miata that he can restore a little, modify a little and have some fun with!
