Boston Crusaders 2021 - Gootz Tenor Cam

Finals week ensemble rehearsal of the 2021 Boston Crusaders. DCI's Non-Competitive Celebration Year brought many new challenges in the aftermath of COVID. No pre-season camps. Show learned in 2 weeks. Only 2 weeks (instead of 2 months) of tour to get "finals ready." All said and done, I thoroughly enjoyed the music we played and the level of excellence we achieved as a battery and corps. We also just had tons of fun doing it. It was a friendly reminder that the nature of competition, especially in an artistic outlet, can lead you to some dark places. Being driven from a place of respect for the people around you and nurturing each other's shared genuine passion for your craft will always provide more than the pursuit of external success. Competition drives excellence, but excellence transcends competition. - Also extremely grateful to get to write the quad feature for my own ageout. :) This was a fun one. Much love, Gootz ••|•|•••
