Kia ora and welcome back to Your Good Yarn! It's Day 13 of Vlogtober, and today is all about trying hard things. I'm finally sewing a fabric book — a soft cloth storybook made from a printed panel (this one's full of diggers and construction vehicles) — as a gift for my sister's new baby. It's part of a whole basket of handmade bits I'm making for her over the coming months. Here's the thing: I've put this exact project off for nearly 12 years. My mum made ours when my eldest was little, and the part that always scared me off was the bias binding. But a chat with Ari at my local fabric shop and a tip to just turn the pages into pockets, flip them, and sew around the outside meant… no bias binding needed. And the whole thing took just over an hour. Twelve years of putting off a one-hour project! This one's also a little lesson in letting go of perfectionism — it's a bright, soft book for a baby who can't read yet and just wants colours to look at. Done is better than perfect. What's the project sitting in YOUR "too-hard basket" that you keep putting off? Tell me below — maybe this is your sign to finally give it a go. And what should I make for the baby basket next? New here? This is Day 13 of 31 — a new video every day for Vlogtober. Hit subscribe so you don't miss one, and go back and catch the earlier days. Thanks for trying hard things with me — see you tomorrow!
